Vicki Stone 11

Vicki Stone is part of an observant Jewish family in Portland, Oregon. Although She has been “crafty” all her life through ceramics, embroidery. rug hooking, commercial knitting, etc. and has won awards, she only began painting about 25 years ago. She started seeing images in her head of finished paintings, and since they were religious in nature, she assumed they were from God, and she was supposed to paint them. This lasted about three years, with almost an image a day. She sketched them out, so I still have a record of them. While occasionally she will do secular subjects, primarily she creates for Judaism. She believes there is a lot more to Judaism than the Holocaust and Middle East politics. Her work has been collected by Oregon Jewish Museum, Hurn Museum, Mennello Museum of American Art, and American Visionary Art Museum.
